About

John Perkins Architect Limited was formed in January 2005. The work load of the practice includes the residential sector, commercial and industrial schemes.

John’s early career began in the private sector located first in Shrewsbury with Rodney Bellamy Associates, followed by Scorer and Pilling in Lincoln, then Wm Suanders and Partners in Louth, carrying out several large projects for the Post Office and the Anglian Water Authority. This was followed by a period in Local Authority at Newark & Sherwood District Council, where John rose to the position of Chief Architect, in a lively ‘private practice’ style office.

Work here included responsibility for many of the major projects, such as the refurbishment of the Palace Theatre, the renovation of Newark Castle and grounds, the design and construction of a new Youth Hostel in Edwinstowe, several Leisure Centre extensions, a visitor’s centre, a craft centre, a cafe, the new Council Depot and various industrial units throughout the District. Other schemes included the reburbishment of Newark Market Place, a new bridge over the River Trent at Newark and the first landscaping phase of the Riverside Walk.
